Common in higher elevations, often in patches in pine forests near rocky outcroppings. Aster-like clusters of yellow flowers (orange/dark yellow center, tiny yellow petals) on a tall stalk. Small clusters of very unique grayish-green leaves, where each leaf has a wavy pattern, sort of like ricrac ribbons. This pattern has a few variations. There are also several similar/related species but this is the most common. The leaves are alternate (one leaf per node - aka joint where the leaf joins the stem).
