Tallish flower stalks with many closed buds along the stem (particularly at the very tip of the flower stalk) and delicate white-pink flowers just below the tip or all along the bottom half of the stalk. Each flower has 4 spade-shaped petals, coming out of a greenish center. The filaments of the flower (the thin stalk that supports the anther) are very long and white, and the filaments are a bright orange. The petals tend to crumple up and turn reddish with age (particularly those towards the bottom of the stalk). Leaves are small, and either slightly oblong or linear, usually clinging along the stem. I have personally observed them the most directly along the edges of trailsides in the grassy plains or low, grassy foothills.
