Among the most common and longest-blooming fall wildflowers. The plant is tall and branching, with several or a great many flowers on the tips, each with a yellow, orange, or brownish center. Each flower is lavender or deep purple in color, with many thin petals. Leaves are smallish and dark green. These leaves are smooth, giving the plant it´s name and helping distinguish it with many other aster species.
