This species is quite variable, but generally grows in clumps or individual stalks with dense clusters of light yellow to deep orange flowers. Each flower has 4 teardrop-shaped petals, with green stigmas (which may stick out noticeably) and light yellow anthers. Leaves are linear and dark green.
