This plant is absolutely ubiquitous in Boulder year-round, and has a very unique growth habit which makes it easy to spot. Each small plant is an isolated individual, though the individuals may grow in clumps. It grows straight upwards with one main stem, each of which are lightly fuzzed. Each small, straight branch ends in a circular seed pod. Each seed pod has an inner round center that bulges out, surrounded by a small ring of flatter material that ends in a tiny spike facing away from the main stem. Flowers are yellow and miniscule with 4 petals.
