A rosette-shaped clump of leaves at the base, each 2-4 inches long. The rest of the plant is composed of an extremely tall branching flower stalk, so pre and post bloom it is reduced to just the leaf clump. Miniscule flowers on the tips of branches, which may be difficult to recognize due to their tiny petals and brown/greenish/pale yellow coloring. Prefers plains, slopes, dry areas, rocky foothills, canyons, and sandy zones.
